Maanya
Grade 12, artificial intelligence
“I wanted to do something with AI.”
Ten weeks later she had built a test of whether a model can tell when it doesn't know the answer.
Her research question
Can we teach AI to know when it doesn't know?
Buildemics pairs students with working PhD researchers for ten weeks of real research, so they find out what a field actually feels like before they commit four years and a degree to it.

Sarasyn reshapes any document to a student's reading level, language and learning style, so our research material meets every student where they are.
Founding cohort
Some students finish and know it's what they want. Some finish and know it isn't. Both of those are worth it.
Apply for Cohort 2Why Buildemics
The same researcher for all ten weeks, never a cohort call with thirty students on mute. They learn how you think and push you accordingly.
You start with whatever you are actually curious about, even if it is vague. The first two weeks turn it into something you can answer.
Most students discover what a field is really like in their second year of university. Ten weeks inside a real question tells them now.
Ten sessions, two writing sessions, and the finished paper. No add-on fees, no premium tier, no charge to talk to your mentor between sessions.
The mentors
Every mentor is an active researcher. Every session is one to one.

Questions
Roughly three to five hours including the session. Students in exam months can adjust pace with their mentor.
Every mentor is an active PhD researcher or graduate student at a recognised university, interviewed by our team before being matched with any student.
We do not promise publication. We include two sessions on academic writing and on identifying where work could be submitted. Whether a paper is accepted is decided by journals, not by us.
Tell us early. We rematch the mentor where the fit is wrong, at no extra cost.

From the founder
“Buildemics is exactly what I needed at 18, before going to the USA. The vision is to make exploration easier for the next generation.”
Rainy Jain
Founder, Buildemics. Alum, Michigan State University.
Cohort 2 begins October 2026. Book a call and we'll talk through whether this is right for your child. No pitch, no obligation.
